Spring into Summer 2025 – WIISE members’ activity plan

WIISE member events from February to July 2025

Below is our proposed activity plan for Spring/Summer 2025. We have devised this to cover topics that WIISE members have told us would be interesting. So, there are events focusing on local culture, entrereneurship & networking, plenty of casual coffee evenings and a couple of relaxed evening visits to local bars.

These are ‘save-the-date’ notices for your calendar. We will confirm the precise date of the events, closer to the time, by email and in the WhatsApp Community.

Suomen Yrittäjäopisto Digi-skills for Entrepreneurs (Public)

  • “Pitovoimaa maahanmuuttajayrittäjyydestä Etelä-Pohjanmaalla” project event.
  • Mark Wiltshear will be sharing his experiences of digital marketing as a solo-entrepreneur, a micro-business and a non-profit association. The aim of the evening is to share ideas and tips to encourage other small business owners.

Winter walk on Luontopolku + laavu (Members & guests)

Saturday 8.3.2025, 10:00

  • If you have moved to Etelä-Pohjanmaa recently and have not yet discovered the joy of walking along the local nature trails, or if you just want to get out into nature with your fellow WIISE members then this is for you. We will meet-up and take a casual stroll around one of Seinäjoki’s ‘luontopolku’ before stopping for coffee and freshly cooked makkara at a ‘laavu’.

Tour of Aalto Centre & Coffee, Seinäjoki (Members only)

Saturday 12.4.2025 – 12:30-14:00

  • The municipal centre of Seinäjoki was designed by world-renowned architect, Alvar Aalto and it attracts visitrs from around the world. We will be taken on a guided tour of the buildings: Theatre, Library, Town Hall & Lakeuden Risti Church.

SJK Seinäjoki vs VPS Vaasa (Members only)

Monday 12.5.2025, kickoff 19:00

  • When it comes to local sporting culture, the rivalry doesn’t get more passionate than Seinäjoki vs Vaasa.
  • For this event, WIISE will arrange a group booking for WIISE members and will cover 50% of the price of tickets. Members will pay the other 50%.

WIISE Official Spring Meeting

Thursday 22.5.2025, 17:00-19:00

  • The official spring meeting (Kevätkokous) that WIISE is legally required to organise. It gives an opportunity for members to scrutinise the association’s activites and achievements in the 2024 Annual Report.

Visit to the outdoor Migration Museum, Peräseinäjoki

Saturday 14.6.2025, 12:00-13:30

  • The Migration Museum (Siirtolaismuseo) explores the movement of people around the world by researching, studying, documenting and displaying information about migration, immigration and emigration.
  • The main attraction is the museum’s open-air exhibition area with currently four buildings, all from different countries, Finland, Canada, Australia and Russian Siberia. The buildings are furnished and can be visited inside. They tell the special stories of migrants along with the beautiful originality of each building and its exhibition.

  • If you haven’t been to Danny Boy before, you are in for a treat. They offer a wide selection of drinks, a variety of board games and, if the weather is good, the opportunity to sit outside on ‘Seinäjoki’s Ugliest Terassi’ ™️ 😅
  • This is a relaxed evening drink with no agenda, just have a drink and chat with friends.

  • Still Standing is one of the most welcoming bars in Seinäjoki with good music and friendly vibes. It is owned by one of Seinäjoki’s pioneers, Momo, who moved to Finland from Morocco over 30 years ago!
  • This is a relaxed evening drink with no agenda, just have a drink and chat with friends.
  • WIISE will buy the first drink for upto 20 members.
