WIISE Introduction to Local Politics
Are you interested in making a real impact in your community? Have you ever wondered how to get involved in local politics but didn’t know where to start? Well, we have great news for you!
WIISE is hosting an exciting event on January 16th. It is specifically designed for immigrants who want to learn how to get involved in local politics here in Seinäjoki. This is your chance to meet local political leaders. Hear about their experiences. Discover how you can be part of the political scene in Finland.

As usual, WIISE will offer coffee and pulla to all members, guests and speakers.
Meet Our Speakers:
- Paul Fairchild, Kokoomus – Get insights into what it’s like to run a campaign and be involved in Finnish politics.
- Gavin Rijal, SDP– Learn about the role and responsibilities of an elected official in Finland.
- Laura Ala-Kokko, Vihreät – Curious about how a foreigner can become a Green Party candidate? Laura will share her expertise!
- Evie Wiltshear, Seinäjoki Nuorisovaltuusto – Interested in how young people can make a difference in politics? Evie will discuss opportunities for those under 20.
This event will feature short talks from each speaker. A Q&A session will follow. You can ask any burning questions and get advice tailored to you. It’s also a great chance to meet like-minded individuals who are passionate about contributing to their community.
